Words That Have The Most Rhymes

The English words that have the highest number of perfect rhymes are shown in the plot above. Only words that have mutually exclusive rhymes are shown. The counts include surnames, proper nouns, and acronyms. The numbers will only roughly match results from our rhyming dictionary. There are several reasons for this, but, broadly speaking, it's a matter of quality control.

Digging deeper into this issue, there are certain types of words where it is unclear whether or not they should be counted. These word types might include any of the following:

• surnames and other proper nouns
• uncommon words of recent non-English origin
• nonsensical prefixes and suffixes (e.g. "decombustion", "semi-infinite")
• words that are virtually unused (e.g. "recollectivizationings")

Overall though, the effect of these issues is usually not too dramatic, and the above chart above should give a fairly accurate impression as to which words have the most rhymes.
